Michael Jordan wasn’t always the same player fans have come to know and love these past 4 decades. Before he transitioned into ‘His Airness’, Jordan was a high school sophomore who was cut from Laney’s Varsity basketball team because he hadn’t even reached 6 feet in height.

Of course, as everybody knows, Michael would have quite the growth spurt during the summer between his sophomore and junior year. This combined with the fact that he was killing it on the JV squad led to him becoming a focal point on the Varsity team.
Along the way, one of, if not, the biggest support systems MJ had was his mother, Deloris. She, along with her husband, James, even forced their son to take up the meeting with Nike when he really wanted to sign with Adidas, leading to a $2.5 million contract being signed.
Michael Jordan wouldn’t be where he’s at without the women in his life, according to Jasmine Jordan
Michael Jordan always wanted a daughter. When his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, was pregnant with Marcus, MJ hoped that it would be a girl. He would eventually have his wish fulfilled with the birth of Jasmine Jordan.
Jasmine, who now works with both Jordan Brand and as a liaison for Charlotte Hornets players, spoke out about her father and what it means to have women in your life. In this particular interview, she would go on to say that Michael would not be where he is in his life without the women who have impacted his life.
Juanita Vanoy, Jasmine Jordan, Yvette Prieto, his two twin daughters, and of course, his mother, Deloris, have all helped Michael to get to where he is today. Regardless of what his relationship with them is like today, they helped build him up both financially and emotionally.
Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy had one of the most expensive divorces in history
After 17 years of marriage, Juanita filed a petition to officially be divorced from Michael Jordan in 2006. She had done so before in 2002 but never actually went through with it as they tried to reconcile their differences.
With them going through with this divorce, she was rewarded with close to half of the 6x NBA champion’s net worth. At the time, it was a ‘measly’ $400 million. So, Juanita walked away with $168 million of it all.
