“Doing Kobe Bryant drills to ease my mind”: Damian Lillard shouts out the Lakers legend on his newest single ‘The Juice’

Damian Lillard gives a shoutout to Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant, on his newest single ‘The Juice’ as he says he’s doing Kobe drills to ease his mind.

Damian Lillard is undoubtedly the greatest basketball player to have ever picked up a microphone. Sure, he’s got competition from guys like Aaron Gordon and Victor Oladipo, but his flow and the cadence in his voice is comparative to that of established rappers that are in the industry today.

He’s even gotten into it with Shaquille O’Neal as the two settled their beef while spitting bars at one another through social media; a bout that resulted in Damian Lillard easily toppling the Platinum recording artist. When it comes to Shaq’s Lakers teammate from decades prior, Kobe Bryant, Dame has shown nothing but respect.

Damian Lillard wore a custom ‘Black Mamba’ jacket during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game during a performance while also dropping a single with Snoop Dogg named, ‘Kobe’ late last year. In the Lakers’ first game back from Bryant’s untimely passing, the Oakland native dropped 48 points in a Blazers victory in honor of the 5x champion.

Damian Lillard goes by the stage name of ‘Dame DOLLA’ and according to him, ‘DOLLA’ stands for ‘Different On Levels the Lord Allows’. This is also the name of his newest album and the first single off of this album of his was released last night. ‘The Juice’ features several quotable bars but one about Kobe Bryant has stuck with fans.

“Doing Kobe drills. Ease my mind. Hope I slowly heal,” said the 6x All-Star. He aptly said this bar at the 2:48 mark of the song, symbolizing Bryant’s two jersey numbers, 24 and 8.

As for addressing the trade rumors surrounding his name, Dame cleared that up with a bar that read, “Tryna fill me up with no gossip, I don’t give a f**k what they say.” It’s safe to say that Damian Lillard has had with people talking on behalf of him in regards to his future plans with the Blazers.

Besides, Dame has more things to worry about at the moment; that being Team USA’ Gold medal game against France that’s set for tomorrow.
