‘Dwyane Wade is LeBron James’ best teammate’: Stephen A Smith on why Lakers’ Anthony Davis is not as good as D-Wade
As LeBron James nears his 4th title, there have been a lot of discussions on who is the best teammate he’s ever had.
As the Lakers plan to end the 2019-20 season in Game 5, there have been a lot of discussions on who is the best player LeBron James has ever taken the court with.
This is a rather very intricate discussion as a lot goes into consideration when you think about it. Drafted 1st in 2003, LeBron James is playing his 17th season right now and has had tons of teammates. Considered as the best athlete of our generation, LeBron James has had a glorious career. He is a 16x NBA All-Star, 16x All NBA team inductee, 4x NBA MVP, 3x NBA Finals MVP, and 3x NBA Champion.

James is considered as one of the Greatest of all Times. Since the NBA is a team sport, he cannot have achieved that status all alone. LeBron has had quite a few greats as his teammates. The ones that stand out are:
-
Dwyane Wade
Drafted #5 in the same draft as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James played together from 2010-2014 in Miami and a brief stint in Cleveland in 2017-18.
He was already a champion before LeBron’s arrival. Wade led the Heat to the 2006 championship, averaging around 39ppg in the last 4 games of the Finals series. Wade was the 2009 scoring champion, a season before LeBron joined him. The on-court chemistry of LeBron and Wade was dynamic right off the bat. They went to 4 straight finals, winning 2 of those.
LeBron was a star before joining the Heat, but with Wade as his big bro there, he became a champion. Wade was the guiding light for LeBron that shaped him into the player we see today.
He wasn’t the same dominating force entering Miami, as we saw him when he left the Heat. A lot of that credit goes to D Wade.
-
Anthony Davis
Anthony Davis joined LeBron James in the 2019 offseason. They’re in their first season together and already well on their way to winning their first ring together. The 27-year-old had an MVP caliber season and was 2nd on the list of DPOY, all while playing alongside LeBron James.
He was drafted #1 in 2012 by New Orleans Pelicans. AD was the star in NOP and averaged over 28ppg for 2 seasons straight from 2016 to 2018. He is leading the Lakers scoring-wise and is a pillar on the defensive end for them. A 7 footer, AD plays the Power Forward position while showing the agility of a guard, and the defense of a center.
LeBron James is here as the big bro role, the same way D Wade was for him. LeBron has the experience and guides AD whenever the need comes.
LeBron’s best teammate? Who is it?
Here is a link of a discussion for the same that took place on ESPN’s First Take. Stephen A Smith has explained why he feels Dwyane Wade is LeBron James’ best teammate ever.

I personally believe D Wade is the best teammate LeBron has had. He helped shape LeBron as a player and get over some of his fears on court, and turned him into a champion.
