LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets are favorites in the race for the worst record in the NBA. And yet, they came up against one of the top teams in their conference, the Milwaukee Bucks, and absolutely decimated them, with the final score standing at 109-138.

From the Bucks’ perspective, this was horrible.
Losing to the team with the worst record in the league would’ve been bad enough. However, getting blown out by them? And so much so that the game has been called by the middle of the 3rd quarter?
That’s not how title contenders are supposed to look at all.
But, if you were thinking that Giannis Antetokounmpo had no part to play in this defeat, you’d be dead wrong.
The man played about 22 minutes and scored a grand total of (drumrolls please) … 9 points.
And in doing that, the man has also broken a certain streak of his that he has maintained for a couple of years now.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has broken his streak of having double-digit points after the abysmal game against Hornets
The last time Giannis Antetokounmpo had single-digit points in a game, was on 29th April 2021, against the Rockets. And during that game, the man only played a single minute, notching 1 point, before he had trudge off the floor due to injury.
So, in other words, yes, his performance against the Hornets doesn’t really have something that can really match just how bad it was.
Many say that this game is just a blip in the road. But, can it truly be left at just that?
Is this a bad sign for the Milwaukee Bucks?
Khris Middleton wasn’t able to participate in this game due to an injury to the same knee he had hurt during last season’s playoffs.
However, apart from him, the Bucks had all their pieces. And yet, the team couldn’t even beat a lottery-bound team at bay.
The Bucks are known to be one of the best defenses in the NBA, so frankly, this game should’ve been a sinch. And to make matters worse, the Hornets’ offense, while good when clicking, is nothing even close to elite.
This was more than just a bad day for the Bucks. Instead, it was one filled with defensive incompetence.
And if the Bucks don’t cut out that part of themselves, the Bucks could lose their championship window very, very quickly.
