Dennis Rodman has attained the status of a revolutionary in modern American pop culture, thanks to his outlandish antics in the NBA back in the day. Ever since Rodman set foot on the NBA hardwood in the mid-1980s, he has been defying rules and stereotypes. Yes, Rodman was a pretty great defensive specialist and rebounder to have on the team. However, he was difficult to deal with because of his wild habits, like partying, gambling, indulging in scandalous affairs with popular women etc. Even now, more than two decades after retirement, Rodman’s eccentricities still continue to intrigue his fans. Just days after getting a tattoo of his girlfriend on his face, “The Worm” has posted an awkward dance video of himself on Instagram.

The NBA wasn’t as liberal back then as it is today. Back in the 1980s, it wasn’t common to see players covered in tattoos and piercings, with a different hair color every other day. The then-NBA commissioner David Stern even issued an ultimatum to dismiss Rodman from the league if he didn’t stop inking his body. However, Rodman refused to comply despite Stern’s constant warnings.
Dennis Rodman asks fans to rate his awkward dance moves
The Chicago Bulls legend recently took to Instagram and shared a hilarious clip of him dancing with his girlfriend, Yella Yella. Sharing the awkward moves on social media, the five-time NBA Champion asked his followers to rate them. Dennis The Menace wrote in his caption:
“Rate my dance moves 😆😝 Just having a good time🤷🏾♂️🕺🏾SUBSCRIBE🔗 IN BIO ⬅️ 🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾😆👍I tried it”

Just a few days prior, Rodman got a tattoo of his girlfriend on his face. As seen in Yella Yella’s Instagram post, the NBA Hall-Of-Famer got it inked against his girlfriend’s wishes. The singer, in an Instagram post, shared a clip of the 62-year-old getting the tattoo.

In what seemed like a PR stunt, Rodman swore that Yella would be the last woman he gets involved with. Knowing Rodman and judging from his past history, it’s very difficult to trust his resolve. But it’s certainly good to see the Rebound King taking his relationship seriously.
Rodman helped make the league much more accepting
During the 1990s, it became a common practice for Rodman to change his hair color every other night. However, it wasn’t easy for him to deal with the media, his peers and the NBA regarding the stigma associated with his whimsical practices. The former Pistons star has to be credited for influencing the NBA to become much more accepting than it previously was. In his book “I Should Be Dead By Now”, the two-time All-Star took credit for the same:
“The hair and tattoos were a huge issue then, but now they’re no big deal, thanks to a trailblazing Dennis Rodman. Like I told The New York Times, even all the boring white guys got tattoos now.”
Today, guys like Jeremy Sochan and Marcus Smart can thank Rodman for easing the NBA’s rules on hair colors.
