Kanye West gives a shout out to Giannis on his album, ‘Donda’, with a vintage lyric and fans claim that he beat out Drake for the Bucks MVP’s name-drop.
Following Giannis and the Bucks claiming the 2021 NBA championship, fans flooded social media about Drake looking to shoehorn in a lyric that rhymed with the words ‘Giannis’ and ‘Antetokounmpo’. The latter is a feat that perhaps cannot be achieved but the former is something that’s already been done and surprisingly, the ‘Views’ rapper wasn’t the first to do it.

Kanye West has been in the tabloids for quite some time. Everything from his public divorce with Kim Kardashian to him showing up to events wearing extravagant masks has got fans speculating on whether a new album is on the way. Sure enough, West is about to release his 10th studio album ‘Donda’ on July 23rd.
Prior to its release however, Kanye had a livestream for the album that he dedicated to his late mother and NBA fans couldn’t help but point out the Giannis name drop.
Kanye West shouts out Giannis on Donda.
NBA players have always been a part of rap in terms of getting shouted out. Jay-Z once said, “If Jesus taking LeBron, I’m taking Dwyane Wade,” and of course, Drake has also referenced NBA athletes like the time he said, “Wet like I’m Book (Devin Booker),” amongst other bars as well.

Looks like Kanye West is also looking to continue on this tradition as he name dropped the reigning Finals MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, on a the track ‘Junya’ that’s featured on ‘Donda’. The lyric goes, “Let me be honest, I run with the Bucks boy, lemme Giannis.”
With mostly positive reviews coming from fans who watched the livestream, it’s safe to say that Ye has come out with another classic.
