Chris Paul responds to Suns and Lakers trade rumors on Jimmy Fallon's show

Chris Paul was a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night. The Point God was tight-lipped when asked about the possibility of a trade to the Suns.

The Phoenix Suns emerged from the NBA bubble with enhanced credentials. They went through the bubble undefeated and were tied with Memphis for the 9th best record in the West. Their record with DeAndre Ayton playing last season was above .500. Adding Chris Paul would instantly vault them into the playoffs.

Chris Paul led the Thunder to a 5th placed finish and a hard-fought 7-game first round series in the past season. He has every reason to be optimistic about the team’s chances next season as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander enters his third season in the league.

Chris Paul refuses to comment on possibility of a trade to the Phoenix Suns

Jimmy Fallon has not had a good run in 2020 – understandable, given that he hasn’t been in studio for most of it. The show has had dwindling numbers, but Chris Paul’s offseason appearance seems to indicate that there’s never a shortage of willing guests on there.

Paul gave a great interview to Fallon on a variety of topics in the 6-minute segment. But the one that caught the eye of NBA fans was his response to Fallon asking him about the possibility of a trade to the Suns or the Lakers.

“Man, I’m going into year 16, right? So I’ve heard about every rumor that you could possibly hear. So you learn to control what you can control. I’m training getting ready for the season. If something happens, it will. If not, you know, I love being in Oklahoma with our team. We actually just got a new coach yesterday. So, you know, the league is always constantly changing.”

While the Suns seem like the more plausible destination, CP3s connections with LeBron James make LA look like a great fit too. However, LeBron will need to ensure that they sell a majority of their roster in order to get their 3rd star in.

With the Lakers, Paul will have a sure-shot chance at winning a championship, whereas with the Suns, he might once again be part of a squad that is in a ‘rebuilding’ phase.

However, from CPs answer to Jimmy Fallon, it looks like he is staying put in Oklahoma.
