With Scottie Pippen Jr, throwing down nasty posters over the last month in the G league for the South Bay Lakers, attention has again found the doorstep of one Bulls and Dream Team legend, Scottie Pippen.

Scottie Pippen has seen a lot of media attention lately with the release of the Netflix special, “The Last Dance” and his very public divorce from his long-time wife Larsa Pippen. His recent book, “Unguarded” also added fuel to the fire, as tensions between Pippen and Jordan rose to an all-time high.
Gilbert Arenas’ comments on Scottie Pippen sparks debate
Scottie Pippen is undoubtedly great, in the words of the great Michael Jordan, “Everybody says, well, I won all these championships, but I didn’t win without Scottie Pippen, and that’s why I consider him my best teammate of all time”.

But Agent Zero (Gilbert Arenas), believes that the Pip, was the best player, in possibly the best team to ever be assembled in the history of the sport.
In a recent episode of his podcast “No chill with Gilbert Arenas”, Arenas while explaining the power of assists within the game, stated, “Pippen was the MVP of the dream team, he had the most assists, even with the greatest point guards in Magic and John Stockton on that team. He distributed the ball and he sacrificed. But he is still the most valuable on the team”.
Arenas explains his decision and calls Draymond the “glue binding the Champion warriors together”
Arenas explaining his stance in the same podcast, stated “the ball always goes in the hand of the guy who makes the best decisions. If you have a team with only scorers, the ball will come to you first as a facilitator. Pippen always made the pass and played the game right. always made the necessary sacrifice for the team”. Pippen was undoubtedly the glue that made the 1992 team stick. From rebounding, and defending the opposition’s best player, to facilitating ball movement between ball-dominant players such as Jordan and Barkley, Robin shone brightest when it mattered the most.
Arenas also sees a parallel between Scottie Pippen’s play style and Draymond Green’s and the Defending Champion Warriors. Explaining the parallels Arenas called Draymond ” unselfish”, touting him as the reason why Steph and Klay get great looks while also sharing the ball in an unselfish manner.
Though the era of the Bulls dominating is long gone, the comparisons with the 72-10 bulls will always bring us back to the glory days at the United Center. With the Warriors racking up their 4th chip, the debate on the greatest team of the sport is still, far from over.
