Jalen Green

Jalen Green is set to be one of the top prospects in this year’s NBA draft, and it looks like he already wants to be compared to Kobe Bryant.

Green is an incredible prospect, and he definitely has the skillset to be at least a top three if not the first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. With Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham expected to go first overall, the expectation is that the Houston Rockets will draft Green with the second overall pick.

However, Green believes he’s capable of much more. In fact he thinks he can live up to the legendary Kobe Bryant and that he’s a first overall pick.

Jalen Green Believes Teams Would Be Crazy Not To Pick Him First Overall, Wants To Be Compared To Kobe Bryant

Jalen Green absolutely lit up the NBA G League Ignite Program as he averaged a superb 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He did it on great shooting splits too as he shot 46.1% from the field and a 36.5% from three.

However, to reach even the same stratosphere as Kobe Bryant, he’s going to have to prove himself in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant finished his career with 18 All-Star selections, five NBA championships, and he was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame. Those are some lofty goals to reach for the 19-year old.

However, there are some similarities between the two. Kobe Bryant’s height was 6’6″ and Jalen Green is 6’5″. The two also play shooting guard, and they have similar play styles.

Green has a long way to go, but by setting such ambitious goals for himself, he may be committing himself to the same kind of hardworking mentality that Kobe had. After being drafted, he’ll have to follow up on his goals and turn that hard work into success on the court.
