The Brooklyn Nets are all set to be a powerhouse next year with the return of their big three in James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and of course, Kevin Durant. However, they’re also going to be adding one of the biggest role players left in free agency in Patty Mills.
Mills has been a mainstay on the San Antonio Spurs for 10 seasons now, and he’s always been an excellent point guard for them.
Now, he’ll be joining the super team out East in hopes of competing for a championship once more. Mills brings excellent value to the Nets, and they managed to sign him for a pretty cheap deal too.
Free agent G Patty Mills has agreed to a two-year, $12M deal with the Brooklyn Nets, his agent Steven Heumann of @CAA_Basketball tells ESPN. Deal includes a player option.

Patty Mills Joining Kevin Durant On The Brooklyn Nets Has The NBA World Losing It
Team USA faced off against Austrailia earlier in the summer in an exhibition match in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. Australia was led by Patty Mills who dropped an impressive 22 points as Australia hung on for a 91-83 victory.
Team USA is set to face Australia in the semi-finals of the Olympics with now teammates Kevin Durant Patty Mills set to go head to head one more time.
Inevitably, this had NBA Twitter making all sorts of jokes regarding the Nets signing.
Patty Mills will face Kevin Durant as apart of Team Australia on Thursday, Aug 5th at 12:15 EST.

There were, of course, jokes made too:
KD got cooked by Patty in Tokyo and he immediately told Sean Marks to sign him 😂

Regardless of the jokes, this is an incredible signing for the Nets. Mills gives them some much needed depth, and he’ll be the perfect man to lead the offense when any of the three stars are sitting out.
