“Kyrie Irving and Dwight Howard mean well but”- Bomani Jones points out flaw in Lakers star’s statement
Kyrie Irving and Dwight Howard are not in favour of restarting the NBA season, but Bomani Jones feels that they haven’t though this through.
Lakers center Dwight Howard recently issued a statement through his agent extending support to Kyrie Irving. NBA Players are concerned with the health issues which players might face once the season restarts at Orlando, Florida.
Dwight in his statement clarify why Basketball isn’t required at this time and supporting social change and the ” Black live Matter” Movement is more important.
“I agree with Kyrie. Basketball, or entertainment period, isn’t needed at this moment, and will only be a distraction. Sure it might not distract us the players, but we have resources at hand the majority of our community don’t have” said Dwight in his statement.
Irving, Howard, and other anonymous NBA players are not the only one with the same opinion. Clipper guard Lou Williams on Saturday said that restarting the season will be “a distraction” to ongoing racial protests.
Howard think that winning his first NBA championship with Lakers is not more important than the unity of his community.
Dwight said that“I would love nothing more than to win my very first NBA Championship. But the unity of My People would be an even bigger Championship, that’s just too beautiful to pass up.”

Basic flaw in Kyrie Irving and Dwight Howard’s reasoning?
However, NBA analyst Bomani Jones isn’t quite convinced if both Dwight Howard and Kyrie Irving have thought this through. He tweeted about how this entire movement might take decades to enforce a change across the country. And thus skipping this season might not be the end of it, and they might have to stop playing for quite sometime
“Dwight and Kyrie mean well but…like, how long would this period of reflection be? you think this is something you work out in a few months? this project will take decades.” Bomani Jones tweeted

Danny Green has a different point of view
On the other hand Lakers guard, Danny Green believes that players can still show support to the racial movements while playing basketball.
Dwight Howard potentially has the best chance to win the NBA title as lakers are on the top of the Western Conference and the top contenders for the NBA trophy.
The NBA restart is now a hot topic as players are having a difference in opinion. Irving, Howard, William are on one side, and Lebron James, Austin Rivers, and Green on the other.
