LeBron James GD: How Lakers' Star Was Accused of Making Gang Signs During 2020 Bubble Championship Celebration

2020 was a terrible year for a lot of people. The COVID-19 Pandemic hit us all and changed the way we approach everyday life. The NBA came to a standstill when Rudy Gobert became the first player to contract the virus. LeBron James brought smiles to the Lakers fans in the tough year with the 2020 Bubble Championship.

Playing his first season with Anthony Davis, the duo was unstoppable. They handed gentlemen’s sweep to each of their opponents in the West. In the NBA Finals, Jimmy Butler had to cook up magic to take the Lakers to six games.

LeBron won his 4th Championship and, along with it, his 4th NBA Finals MVP. It was a big night for the Lakers, who dedicated their Bubble Playoff run to the late Kobe Bryant.

LeBron James accused ‘dropping rakes,’ dissing Chicago’s GD

After winning the title, the team celebrated before the trophies were handed out. LeBron James was seen making the rounds and shaking hands with his teammates. It was clear that Bron had different handshakes for each member of the Lakers.

However, during one of those handshakes, LeBron apparently was seen ‘dropping rakes.’ According to HITC.com,

“Dropping rakes” is a diss aimed at the Chicago gang, The Gangster Disciples. The Gangster Disciples throw up rakes, and their enemies throw them down which is seen as a disrespectful gesture towards the gang.

Twitter saw the same and wasn’t too pleased with it,

How have the Lakers fared since the Bubble Championship?

Ever since the Bubble, the Lakers have made the most roster changes out of any team in the NBA. As of now, the only two players from the 2020 Championship roster still on the Lakers are LBJ and AD.

In the two seasons after the Bubble, the Lakers have made the playoffs once. They crashed out in the first round against the Suns. Last year, they didn’t even make the play-in games. This year might yield different results if Anthony Davis returns soon and healthy.
