“LeBron James wants to tell Kevin Durant, ‘I can win with Russ’”: Skip Bayless presents unique take on Russell Westbrook joining Lakers
Skip Bayless tries to start some beef between LeBron James and Kevin Durant while making a prediction for the new Lakers backcourt
LeBron James and the Lakers have done it. It’s official, Russell Westbrook is now in Tinseltown.
While this is a massive trade though, the perception of it on NBA Twitter has largely been hot and cold. And frankly, we ourselves are leaning on the cold side, for reasons we will later explain.
However, while most fans and analysts of the sport have stopped at ‘I don’t like this trade for the Lakers’, it seems Skip Bayless is one of those people that just LOVES to go above and beyond.
Most of the NBA community has been talking strictly about the deal and nothing more. But hooooo boy, the analyst found a way to mix in some good ol’ beef as well in this already convoluted soup.
Allow us to explain.

Skip Bayless believes LeBron James only wanted Russell Westbrook to prove to the world he’s better than Kevin Durant
There is petty, incredibly petty, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant level of petty, and then, of course, Skip Bayless’s perception of the personality of certain players.
That aside though, we need to add some context here. Skip Bayless considers Kevin Durant to be the best player on the planet right now. And to be fair to him, there is a valid argument for that to be the case. However, what is completely invalid is the 69-year-old’s perception of LeBron James’s motivations. Take a look at his tweet below.
LeBron knows full well Kevin Durant, Best Player on the Planet, decided he couldn’t win a championship w Russell Westbrook as his primary decision-maker. Now LeBron obviously wants to say, “Watch ME win w Russ.” He WILL REGRET letting Russ be his point guard. Too ball dominant.

Sometimes we think Bayless may have gone to Mr. Fantastic’s school of stretching to be this good at making these claims so confidently.
That said though, while we don’t agree with the beef part, we do think there is a chance this team-up falls on its face.
It is no secret that the Lakers need spacing, at this point everyone and their mother knows it. Despite this though, the franchise went ahead and gave up quite a bit to acquire the services of Russell Westbrook.
Now, not only have their shooting problems not been fixed, but they are arguably far more dire than ever.
There have been a plethora of predictions about the Lakers next season just because of this trade. But only time will tell where they go.
And as fans of the game, we are excited to see how it all goes down.
