Mario Chalmers to Lakers

One of LeBron James’ former teammates, Mario Chalmers wants to play with LeBron again at the NBA Bubble in Orlando.

Mario Chalmers, an ex-teammate of LeBron James at Miami Heat has expressed his desire to replace the injured Lakers guard Rajon Rando at the NBA Bubble.

The Lakers confirmed that veteran guard Rajon Rando has fractured his right thumb in practice at the Bubble. And will be out for 6-8 weeks, which puts his participation at the Bubble in doubt.

LeBron’s former teammate Mario Chalmers sees this as an opportunity to reunite with James and play for the Lakers in Orlando.

Mario Chalmers to Lakers?

Chalmers took to Instagram to express his desire to play for the Lakers.

On a post by Bleacher report that stated about Rando’s injury. Chalmers cheekily commented that Lakers need another point guard and that he had been “waiting patiently” and “working”.

Looks like Chalmers has been working hard and waiting for the perfect time to return to playing in the NBA. Chalmers has not played in the NBA since 2017-18 when he played for the Memphis Grizzlies. An Achilles injury in 2016 disrupted Chalmers’s career, but now it seems like he has ready to get back.

Chalmers spent four seasons playing with LeBron at Miami Heat. He had a great ability to knock down shots from range and was handy at the defensive end as well.

Lakers are not without two-point guards for the restart. Avery Bradley opted out earlier due to personal reasons, and Rondo has been ruled out as well.

The LA franchise did sign JR Smith and Dion Walters to provide cover at the Bubble restart in Orlando.

Lakers aren’t allowed to sign a replacement now, so a reunion for Chalmers and LeBron seems unlikely.

What does it mean for the Lakers?

Lakers will be looking to minimize the minutes of stars like LeBron James and Anthony Davis at the seeding games at the Bubble in Orlando, to get the most out of them at the playoffs.

Alex Caruso and Quinn Cook will be needed to play more minutes with Rondo and Bradley not available, and Lakers are not allowed to sign a replacement.

Lakers are currently on top of the western conference and one of the favorites to win their first NBA championship in 10 years.
