Knicks signed Tom Thibodeau as their new head coach on 30th July and are now adding a full fledged support cast to his coaching team.

Knicks announce0 Tom Thibodeau as their new head coach in a press conference on 30th July 2020. He would be replacing interim head coach Mike Miller, who had also applied for the job of the head coach.

Thibodeau has previously been the head coach of the Heat and the Timberwolves. His 5 years in Miami were successful as his team made the playoffs each of the five years and rated top in defense. His tenure in Minnesota was shaky as their key star Jimmy Butler demanded a trade and Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins underperforming that season.

The Knicks, who are not playing in the Bubble right now, are ironing out deals with Mike Woodson, Andy Greer, and Dice Yoshimoto. Tom Thibodeau did not have to look much to bring in his supporting coaches. His previous coaching assistants were eager to join him in his new role in New York.

Mike Woodson, the last successful coach for the Knicks has been looked at as an assistant coach in Thibodeau’s staff.

Andy Greer, who had served as the defensive coordinator on Thib’s teams in Miami and Minnesota was a no brainer for Tom and the Knicks.

Dice Yoshimoto, also called the ‘basketball utilityman’, had been the director of strategy at the University of Georgia. Dice and Thib have said to have worked together previously as well.
