Prior To $75,000 Job, Dennis Rodman Was Held At Gunpoint And Called ‘N**ger’ For Dating A White Woman

Dennis Rodman didn’t exactly have a model childhood while growing up with his single mother and two sisters in Texas. By the time he had turned into a teenager, he was forced into getting a job to help support his family’s financial situation.

His mother had even kicked him out by the time he had turned 18, forcing him to live on the streets and eventually with a white family in Oklahoma. Being a black man in the South was always something that Rodman struggled with due to the rampant racism, especially during the 1980s.

Of course, his outlet for all of his frustrations was basketball. His stellar play at SouthEastern Oklahoma State got him drafted into the NBA by the Detroit Pistons in 1986, bringing him a steady paycheck for the first time in his life, earning $75,000 in his first season.

Dennis Rodman was held at gunpoint for dating a white woman

While living with the white family in Durant, Dennis Rodman began dating a white woman. What started as an innocent romance between him and this woman turned into a horrid experience he’ll never forget for the rest of his life.

Even while talking about it close to 4 decades later, Rodman begins to tear up while on the Breakfast Club. According to him, two other white men pulled him to the side, shoved him to the ground, and put a shotgun to his head in an attempt to frighten him and warn him against dating a white woman.

Luckily the future NBA star came out of the altercation physically unscathed for the most part. Though, it is a constant reminder of the fact that many of the things Dennis has gone through have shaped him into the human being he is today.

Dennis Rodman would go on to marry 3 different white women

Dennis Rodman got the last laugh against those two horrible men as he would go on to marry 3 different white women in his life: Annie Bakes, Carmen Electra, and Michelle Moyer.

He would also be s*xually involved with perhaps one of the greatest pop icons of all time, Madonna, during his time with the San Antonio Spurs. So, it’s safe to say that ‘the Worm’ didn’t really take that experience and shy away from embracing his true self.
