Shaquille O’Neal is the man who will uplift the community or die trying. His commitment and effort toward helping the community rise from the ashes are unshakable. He has done it time and again. Whether it is spreading awareness or being philanthropic, O’Neal will do it.

Shaq like any big man has a medical issue. Naturally, at that size, your body is working harder than ever to keep it steady and the Laker legend suffers from sleep apnea.

A condition that he has tried to champion throughout his career. He has often been vocal about the issues surrounding it and there is a very good reason why, it has to do with his mom.

Shaquille O’Neal names his mom Lucille O’Neal as the reason for his crusade for sleep apnea awareness

Shaquille O’Neal in an interview with DocTalks Dental talks about various things and when it came to the subject of the interview, sleep apnea, he cited one person as the source of inspiration. His mother, Lucille O’Neal.

When asked why he is so vocal about the condition Shaq says, “I gave my mother a lot of gifts, she said, ‘I don’t want these baby, ” love you very much. But what have you done to brighten other people’s days?'”

And that is when the 4x champion realized that he needed to do more. He wanted to brighten up people’s lives. O’Neal felt that he had to spread awareness about his own condition and let others who suffer from it become aware of it.

Shaq was also part of a Harvard study

In the same interview, Shaq talks about how he had to listen to Dr. Jonathan Greenburg, the expert on sleep apnea. He later appears on the show and O’Neal touches on how Greenburg helped him figure out a solution for sleep apnea.

Shaq says they put him in a Harvard study and helped him deal with the condition.

It is very wholesome of Shaq to try and spread awareness, and in a way, he is trying to uplift the community by solving issues. All thanks to mom Lucille O’Neal!
