"Soundcloud Rapper": Bucks Fans Ruthlessly Attacking Damian Lillard's Music Career in 2016 Resurfaces, Days After Surprising Trade

Damian Lillard surprised the NBA world recently by joining the Milwaukee Bucks in a blockbuster three-team deal. Apart from being one of the best guards of this generation, Dame is also known for his rap music under the moniker ‘Dame D.O.L.L.A’. While Lillard has enjoyed reasonable success as a musician, he was brutally trolled by Milwaukee Bucks fans during a game back in 2016, when he was shooting free throws. The hilarious video recently resurfaced on the r/NBA subreddit, just days after his move to Milwaukee was announced.

Lillard’s time at the Portland Trail Blazers did not come to a merry end despite him being the greatest player in the franchise’s history. Even though the 33-year-old supposedly wanted a trade to the Miami Heat, he was not sent to South Beach because Portland’s front office decided to hold out for a more favorable package. The winning bid finally came from the Milwaukee Bucks after months of negotiations and drama.

Damian Lillard was trolled by Bucks fans back in 2016

Lillard was initially intent to form a Big Three in Miami, alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. However, things did not go according to plan. Although, his fit alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton also appears to be Championship-worthy.

Regardless, while Bucks fans will be delighted with the move, some of them were guilty of calling Lillard a “Soundcloud Rapper” in the past. The incident took place during a regular season game in December, 2016.

The Trail Blazers had lost the game despite Lillard scoring 30 points. A team display from the Bucks led to a 115-107 victory for the Milwaukee side, according to ESPN. During the game, a crowd of fans kept chanting “Soundcloud Rapper” while Lillard was shooting his free throws at Fiserv Forum.

The incident was also covered on an episode of ESPN’s The Jump at the time. Chauncey Billups and Tracy McGrady reacted to the clip, claiming that Lillard had more than enough talent to be called a successful rapper.

McGrady, in particular, gave props to Lillard’s musical talent, claiming that he really knew “how to rap.” Regardless, despite a rather contentious experience back in 2016, most Bucks fans will be delighted with the prospect of having Dame playing for their team.

Lillard wants to one day return to the Portland Trail Blazers

Despite Lillard deciding to move, there is little doubt that he loved the Portland franchise with all his heart. Dame joined the Trail Blazers as the 6th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Since then, he had stayed loyal to the organization until very recently. Lillard wanted the Trail Blazers to build a championship-calibre team around him,

That did not happen despite him spending some of the best years of his career in Portland. The fact that he hopes to one day return to the franchise, despite the way his exit took place, speaks volumes about his love for the Portland Trail Blazers.
