Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the most well-known names in the entirety of North American sports. He’s been playing at an all-time great level since 2010 and even in his mid-30s, doesn’t seem to want to slow down anytime soon given the Brooklyn Nets’ recent resurgence.

With Durant being as a prolific as he is on both ends of the floor, it’s natural that he gets talked about a whole lot. The rap game and sports have always been intertwined with one another as athletes and musical artists frequently connect with each other off the court.
KD is one such athlete who is constantly mingling with rappers and artists so it shouldn’t come as a surprise when he gets name-dropped in their projects. Combine his affinity for the industry with the fact that he is on good terms with close to every single artist in this industry and you’ve gotten yourself a solid formula for getting shout-outs on the regular.
Kevin Durant on being shouted out by SZA
SZA released her latest album, SOS, this December and Kevin Durant got quite the shout-out from her in the first song on the tracklist. Right after she gave a shout-out to Tom Brady, she said, “I’m pressin’ n**gas like KD, it’s up.”
The 2x NBA champ talked about this on his podcast, The ETCs, and said, “No matter, if it’s from a new artist that just came out yesterday or f**king SZA, if somebody show respect like that, I appreciate that. Good bar too.”

Durant also ranked his favorite albums of 2022 and SZA’s SOS wasn’t on there. The top of his list, as expected, was Future’s ‘I Never Liked You’, as it is for millions of rap fans across the world. Drake said ‘Her loss’ was a top 5 album of his and KD put some respect on it by saying it was his 2nd favorite album of the year.
Kevin Durant has been shouted out a multitude of times
Kevin Durant has been name-dropped by some of the greatest artists to have ever picked up a microphone. Jay-Z said, ‘It’s a new day, hit up KD’, J. Cole said, ‘Meets KD, Can’t nobody shoot like me’.
Drake, who KD is quite close with, gave him close to a verse on Weston Road Flows. It’s safe to say that Durant is one of the most popular names to drop for artists in the entire rap industry.
