Draymond Green has an interesting take on his near half-court heave against the Spurs that ultimately resulted in the Dubs losing.

After suffering a disheartening loss to the Dallas Mavericks a few nights back, the Warriors looked to get back on track last night in their bout against the Spurs. The game came down to the final seconds of the 4th. But an unusual play from Draymond Green botched the Dubs’ effort in trying to steal this one away from the Spurs.
Steph Curry was spectacular last night, as usual, dropping 32 points on 6-11 shooting from beyond the arc. Kelly Oubre has also come into his own these past few games as he contributed 24 points on 56% shooting from the field.
Draymond Green uses an oxymoronic phrase to describe his last play in the Spurs game
Golden State had a chance to tie the ballgame up with around 12 seconds. After the Warriors inbounded the ball to Green, it was expected that he would try to hand the ball off to Steph. The thinking was obviously that he could try to get a 3 off to tie the game 103 apiece.
However, in a confusing play, Draymond Green heaved the ball from near mid-court. This ended with the Spurs getting the defensive rebound and icing the game at the line.
One of the Warriors’ worst losses of the season ends in a blunder. Draymond Green, down three, thought Spurs were coming to foul him. They didn’t and he chucked a 40-footer off the backboard with five seconds left. pic.twitter.com/E97E2E4SGG

In his postgame availability, Green said: “It was the smartest dumb play in the history of the NBA.” Green’s line of thought was probably that Derrick White would foul him to put him at the line. Green isn’t a historically great shooter from the charity stripe and it would make sense that he shoot free throws instead of the greatest shooter of all time.

Green heaved the ball to plead his case that he was fouled in the act of shooting. White ended up not fouling Green, and his effort to win the game came in vain.
