“The league tryna get me out of here, what you want me to do?”: Rajon Rondo reveals why he teamed up with LeBron James and Lakers
2x NBA Champion Rajon Rondo recalls the time when he decided to become a Lakers player and join LeBron James in Los Angeles.
The Boston Celtics won their last championship in 2008, and Rajon Rondo was a key part of it. He fit as the perfect point guard for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen, as they brought Boston its 17th NBA title.
Even after his departure from the city, Rondo remained a beloved figure in the Boston community. All the love Rondo had for Boston and vice versa is the reason why Rondo signing with the Los Angeles Lakers came as a huge shocker.
The history between the Celtics and the Lakers is not unknown to any NBA fan, and this move left a lot of people speechless. However, it paid off, as Rondo became a 2x NBA champ with the Purple and Gold a few months ago.
“I’ve never thought about being a Laker”: Rajon Rondo
Even after Rondo was done with his time in the City of Angels, a lot of people wanted to know why Rondo decided to come to the Lakers in the first place. He was recently on ‘All the Smoke’ podcast, where he revealed what was going through his head when he signed with the Lakers.
“I’ve never thought about being a Laker but at the time I had two teams, I think it may have been New Orleans at the time. ‘You went to the Lakers?’ Yeah, they offered me some money. The league wants to take me out of here, what do you want me to do?”

Rondo was an integral piece of the Lakers squad that won the ring in the Orlando Bubble. His addition to the team strengthened them up even further. Rondo is now playing for the Atlanta Hawks.
