"Kevin Durant is soo good that you have to double-team him": Andre Iguodala narrates a funny incident during a Warriors practice game

Andre Iguodala recalled how Kevin Durant was mad at him and Draymond Green during a Warriors practice during a recent podcast appearance.

The Golden State Warriors clearly dominated the NBA in the latter half of the last decade. The Bay area team won 3 NBA championships in their 5 Finals appearances between 2015-19.

The signing of Kevin Durant during the 2016-17 off-season made the Dubs an unstoppable juggernaut. The Warriors had 4 of his 5 players in their starting lineup as All-Stars.

While Durant was the best player on the team, Iguodala was considered the leader in the locker room. The 2015 Finals MVP was respected and revered by everyone on the team.

KD won back-to-back championships with the Warriors in 2017-18 and was crowned Finals MVP in both cases. The Bay area team were on their way to 3-peat when Durant suffered an Achilles injury in Game Five. Thus ending their dynasty.

Iggy, who currently plays for the Miami Heat, got candid on the JJ Redick podcast while talking about his stint with the Warriors, especially when KD joined the team.

Andre Iguodala recollects a funny incident involving him, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green

Though the Warriors enjoyed a ton of success during their dynasty years, there were always reports of internal issues amongst the players and staff in the media.

One such incident involved Durant getting agitated by Iguodala and Draymond Green during a Warriors practice session. While elaborating further on this Iggy said:

“This is after the All-Star break, and we’re just trying to get our rhythm back with the Warriors. And me and Draymond are competitors. Like we’re trying to win, and the only way we’re gonna win is if we double team KD. KD was so mad. I’m like, bro, do you not understand what we’re trying to tell you?”

“You’re that good… you’ve got two guys who are elite, all-time on defense and we have to double team you. Don’t be mad at us bro, like you’re that good!”

There were several such incidents that took place during the Warriors’ era from 2015-19. However, the most controversial yet remains the 2018 infamous altercation between Draymond Green and Kevin Durant.

Green was caught on camera cursing Durant and telling him that they won without him and didn’t need him. Things between the two got heated to such an extent that other teammates had to separate them.

KD later even admitted that the above incident played a major role in his exit from the Warriors. Though, Green and Durant seemed to have sorted their issues and share a great relationship now.

Iguodala has always maintained that he has immense respect for Durant as a basketball player. Iggy considers the 7-foot sniper one of the best talents in the NBA.

Though the two might not play together anymore but have some great memories from the championship run they had with the Warriors.
