"Father Time really is catching up with LeBron James!": Lakers' superstar suffers right ankle soreness on the same ankle which bothered him out last season

LeBron James is trying his level best to overcome an ankle injury as his Lakers capsize in his absence. But Nick Wright still trusts The King.

The Lakers are stuck in an unenviable position at the moment. Superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both struggling through injury rehab from long-term injury absences.

It’s quite apparent that AD is way off his physical best. The fact that LeBron is off the court and the Lakers don’t have a natural facilitator to run the offense makes it even tougher on him.

They’ll need to pick their form up significantly to have a chance of avoiding the play-in game. Portland beat them in a close encounter last night, consigning them to 7th place in the West at the moment.

Nick Wright is still waiting on LeBron James before writing the Lakers off

Nick Wright gathered a ton of heat (and rightfully so) for his asinine take regarding Nikola Jokic and his 2020-21 NBA MVP campaign. The FS1 host had gone so far as to call it the ‘Worst MVP campaign in the last 35 years’.

He’s followed that up with yet another bold take regarding the Lakers and their playoff chances. Wright is a well-known LeBron truther who’s been pushing James’s GOAT candidature on mainstream media for a while now.

These may yet be the worst days for the King’s steadfast supporters, but Wright has urged the camp to stay calm: “Until we get the report ‘LeBron James: Done for the season’, I’m not going to be concerned.”

However, the Lakers have many problems apart from LeBron and AD’s fitness issues. Andre Drummond has stunk it up to the high heavens in his time as their starting center.

Marc Gasol is clearly the better starting option, but the big man no longer has the fitness to consistently player starters’ minutes. Vogel also has the services of powerhouse Montrezl Harrell and stretch forward Markieff Morris at his disposal.

It’s a ‘problem of plenty but few’ that they’ll have to solve. And solve they have to quickly, in order to mount a realistic title challenge.
