“Time to burn Ben Simmons’ jersey”: NBA fans react to Sixers fans burning his jersey following thier Game 7 loss to Trae Young's Hawks

Philadelphia 76er fans take to the Philly streets to burn Ben Simmons jerseys following his abysmal performance in Game 7 against the Hawks.

If there’s one star who didn’t play up to their supposed potential in these Playoffs, it’s Ben Simmons. The ‘next LeBron James’ could muster up a measly 5-point performance in last night’s win-or-go-home Game 7 against the Atlanta Hawks. Every single flaw in his game was exposed on the biggest stage of them all, all throughout this series.

Just like what happened to Jimmy Butler in the first round against the Bucks, the Hawks formed a wall in the interior as a part of their 2-3 zone and kept Ben Simmons out of the paint. His inability to step back further than 6 feet from the hoop and drain jumpshots, floaters, or even hook shots is what led to the Sixers offense being just as stale as years prior.

His averages in the Eastern Conference SemiFinals came to 10 points per game while shooting 33% from the charity stripe.

Sixer fans burned Ben Simmons jerseys after the Game 7 loss.

Philadelphia 76er fans are of the same caliber as New York Knicks fans, in that, they’ve got a similarly rabid nature to them. This of course stems from a great sense of pride for having a successful franchise and feel as though they need to live up to the Moses Malone and Wilt Chamberlain 76ers.

Continual postseason disappointment resulting in large part from one player is an infuriating thing as it seems as though Ben Simmons has lost all love previously received from the City of Brotherly Love. 76er fan took to the streets of Philly to burn the former no.1 overall pick’s jersey following the several dud performances he put up in the ECSF.

With such a reaction being brought about from the team’s fans, it’s only a matter of time that the front office decides to flip Ben Simmons for someone else. However, with his trade stock at an all-time low, it’s obvious that getting a star of James Harden’s caliber is not currently possible.
