"Wanted Me to Move to North Korea": Dennis Rodman Confesses Refusing Kim Jong Un's 'Bizzare Request' Made Future Visits Dangerous

In a recent appearance on VladTV, Dennis Rodman revealed details about his friendship and close relationship with the North Korean state and its dictator Kim Jong-Un. In the interview, Rodman further revealed how the enigmatic state leader drove him around the country to buy him a condo, wishing he permanently settled in North Korea. However, Rodman rejected this generous offer, which abruptly stopped all his future visits to the country.

Following his illustrious career, Dennis Rodman once again became famous for his frequent visits to North Korea. Given Dennis Rodman had visited the country way more than any average American, most of the media personnel and interviewers tried their best to extract information from the Worm about the secretive country. On the other hand, Rodman would reveal bits and pieces about his relationship with North Korea, thus making him a legendary figure in basketball and beyond sporting circles.

Kim Jong-Un wanted Dennis Rodman to move to North Korea permanently

Growing up, Kim Jong-Un was a massive basketball fan and particularly liked Dennis Rodman. Since his accession to power in 2012, Kim Jong-Un had Rodman over to his country several times, even throwing the Worm a birthday party at a packed stadium of 140,000 people.

The enigmatic North Korean leader took all measures for Dennis Rodman to receive all the luxury of a state guest. It seemed like Rodman was an unofficial ambassador of the United States and the Western World to North Korea. Rodman’s frequent visits to North Korea to meet the country’s leader were met with immense speculation, especially by the governmental agencies in the United States.

In an interview with DJ Vlad, the Worm revealed the great hospitality he received from Kim Jong-Un and the leader’s generous offer for Rodman to move to his country.

Rodman: “He even helped me. He even drove me around with his cars to find me a condo. And that’s true story.” DJ Vlad: “Oh, he wanted you to live in North Korea?

Rodman: “Yeah he wanted me to be important. I said, ‘Dude, I can’t do this.’ Because, when he brought this, looking for condos for me to live there, I’m like ‘Uh, that means actually never come back here.'”

Dennis Rodman was open to having a vacation home in North Korea, visiting the country back and forth. However, the North Korean leader was against such idea of the Worm and wanted him to be a permanent state resident. Despite such deep and close friendship, the Worm honored his American nationality and remained in his home country.

Dennis Rodman’s North Korea served immensely controversial back home in the United States

Dennis Rodman’s frequent visits to North Korea and close relationship with its dictator were viewed controversially in the United States. A US national and a basketball celebrity having close ties with a diplomatic hermit nation was odd. Rodman has even praised North Korea on several instances to the media, which has raised further speculations about him.

In the above interview, Rodman constantly called the state leader his ‘buddy’ and admitted to knowing more about the hermit state than the governmental agencies. This is quite an odd situation wherein a reality star became the ideal diplomat the United States deserved. Perhaps, Dennis Rodman could even help settle the diplomatic stalemate between the United States and North Korea. But for that, he would need to be cooperative enough with the governmental agencies and fulfill his role as an ideal US citizen.
