Watch: After Trashing Lakers, Stephen Curry Finds Viral Superfan in a Sea of Crowd to Gift him Game-Worn Shoes

Stephen Curry and the Warriors finally made their mark felt in the series against the Lakers. After losing game 1, they bounced back with a big win to tie the series 1-1. Apart from the thrilling victory, Curry also had a heartwarming moment after the game. He found a Warriors superfan who had gone viral during game 7 against the Kings and gave him his game-worn shoes.

Strength in numbers was originally meant to be a marketing slogan. But over the years, Golden State has embedded this slogan into its very identity. They are a team that values every member of the squad. Naturally, this cultural cornerstone has also become a rallying war cry among the fans.

The Christian Gamboa also became viral during game 7 against Sacramento for waving the slogan in what was perhaps the most high-stake game for his team this season. Curry honored Gamboa’s support with an equally heartwarming gesture.

Stephen Curry gave Gamboa his game-worn shoes

After the Warriors answered the Lakers for the game 1 defeat, Stephen Curry met with team staff on the court to help him find Gamboa. Curry likely remembered his support with the flag that read ‘strength in numbers.’

Having found him, Curry sent his game-worn kicks to the superfan as a gift. Gamboa was naturally ecstatic after receiving something so precious from the greatest player in the franchise’s history. Twitter account 95.7 The Game, extensively covers everything Warriors shared the instance on their page.

While the high stakes of game 7 and Sacramento’s performance created fear in the Dubs’ fans, Gamboa showcased his undying belief in them. For any athlete, to have such a positive fan on your side is priceless. The support from Gamboa and the reassurance he provided his team in a time of crisis, deserved Curry’s attention and gratitude.

Afterward, Christian also talked about how the gift made him feel. He claimed, and rightly so, that this was a lifetime experience. Even as he was discussing how valuable this moment was, he ran into Anthony Lamb, shook his hand, and reacted as any superfan would.

The momentum from the Game 2 win may work in Warriors’ favor

Unlike the Lakers’ game 1 win, the Warriors were far more dominant in Game 2. They managed to absolutely shut down Anthony Davis who was far more difficult to contain in game 1.

Klay Thompson led the Warriors’ offensive charge and was the best player on the court last night. It finally showed how long Klay has patiently awaited the moment he could battle the Lakers with such high stakes.

The 127-100 win is a big question mark for the Lakers going forward. Though they won game 1, it was nearly not as impressive as GSW’s game 2 win. This means the momentum will be in the Warriors’ favor in game 3. Though they will have a home-court advantage, they will still need AD to show up and do what he is expected to.
