“What’s Next for Me?”: Stephen Curry Resonates With Draymond Green’s ‘Championship Dreams,’ Talks About His Prime

Stephen Curry is undoubtedly one of the greatest point guards to ever grace the NBA. The 6’3 guard recently sat down to discuss all things life and basketball with Ahmad Rashad while on the NBA Rewind show. While on the show, Stephen and Rashad discussed what the future expectations and goals for the 4-time champion were going forward. Curry hinted at the fact that he and the Golden State Warriors would be gunning to win more championships, as the Warriors guard looks to extend his prime.

His answer surprisingly resonated with his long-time teammate Draymond Green. Draymond Green who is considered the heart and brains of the team, recently answered a similar question about his future and the future of the team. Similar to Steph, Draymond believed that the Warriors still had ” two more championships” in the tank.

Stephen Curry answers questions about his and the team’s future going forward

Stephen Curry was recently a guest on The NBA Rewind show, hosted by Ahmad Rashad. While on the show, the warrior’s guard was asked about what was ” next for him?”. While answering the question, Steph first pondered and then said:

What is next for me? Well, winning a few more Championships. If I can extend my prime, I know good things are going to happen. That’s the journey I am on now.

The statement doesn’t come as a surprise as Chef Curry has not shown any signs of slowing down just yet. Just last year the Warrior’s point guard averaged, 29.4 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.1 rebounds in 56 games in 2022-23.  The Warriors even won a championship two years before a spectacular performance from Steph in the finals, landing No.30 his first Finals MVP.

Curry even signed a massive contract with the Warriors in 2022, which sees the star guard staying with the dubs till the end of the 2026 season, keeping him a Warrior till the age of 38.

Curry doesn’t like ‘legacy discussions’ while still being active in the NBA

Stephen Curry has earned his place in The Hall Of Fame. Even greats like Michael Jordan, who often doesn’t give their nod that easily have given it to Curry. But unlike the media, who loves talking about players’ legacy even before they’re drafted, Stephen isn’t a fan of ‘legacy’ talks before retirement.

While explaining his stance to NBA Rewind host Ahmad Rashad, Curry said:

I feel like the challenge of every season is different. You have a specific adrenaline with each season you play on. And I have been with the Warriors my entire career. Even in these last four years, the dynamics in our team, the roster, the introduction to these young guys that we have, every year is a different challenge in and out itself. You lock in on that, and your journey of trying to just be there, add something to your game, become more efficient, and whatever goals you realize in this time for yourself, you get so contained, it’s just kind of ingrained with what that is for you. There is nothing else that matters outside of it. Once you do stuff like that, all of the other stuff creep in.”

With LeBron James still chasing his 5th ring, and Curry having just won his 4th, it would be interesting to see which of the two reaches their goal of adding another ring to their collection first. With Steph also holding the 3-point record, it would be interesting to see where the number reaches before Steph decides to hang up his sneakers.
