Why is Joel Embiid not playing tonight vs Kings?

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a very successful road trip so far. When they left for Utah, Joel Embiid and the Sixers had an 8-9 record on the road. After winning four straight games away from home, they’re now up to 12-9 for the season.

After a one-point win over the Jazz, the Sixers clawed yet another one-point win over the Lakers. However, they managed to secure 10-point wins over the Clippers and the Blazers since.

Headed to Sac-Town, the Sixers would hope to secure their fifth straight win on this trip. However, that would be easier said than done. The Sixers head to the game without James Harden, and now, they are there without Joel Embiid as well.

Why is Joel Embiid not playing tonight?

Joel Embiid is one of the MVP frontrunners this season. According to the latest MVP ladder, JoJo sits in the 3rd spot in the race. He’s been incredible this year for the team, averaging 33.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists a contest.

Embiid is the reason the Sixers sit on the 3rd spot with a 29-16 record. After the Bucks’ loss tonight, the Sixers have a chance to secure the 2nd seed, if they get a win tonight. However, they have to do so without Joel.

Embiid has been listed as OUT for tonight’s contest. He was a late scratch with left foot recovery.

The Sixers would not like to exert Embiid too much and cause an unfortunate injury.

Playing the red-hot Kings, the Sixers would rely on Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey to lead the charge for the team tonight.
