The Toronto Raptors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 128-113 tonight even without their star guard Kyle Lowry. Lowry played 8 minutes before he exit the game with back spasms, had scored 4 points, and dished one assist in that time frame.
In Lowry’s absence, Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam stepped up and produced 32 points each. Norman Powell chipped in with 29 points of his own. For the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.
Will the Raptors make a move for Andre Drummond?
The Toronto Raptors are once again in trade rumors. The Raptors have their hands tied when it comes to big men, ever since the LA teams scooped up Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol. They did sign Aron Baynes and Alex Len in the offseason, but they waived Len in January. Baynes’ production is not the same as what the Raptors were used to from Gasol.
It was rumored on 2nd February that Andre Drummond would probably not be with the Cavs after the trade deadline. His contract expires soon, and the James Harden trade got the Cavs a young and enthusiastic center in Jarrett Allen. The Raptors are rumored to take advantage of the same and make a move for Drummond.
While Drummond may not have the best offensive production, he can provide the Raptors with some much-needed defense. Currently, the Raptors are 17th in defensive rating and is 29th in defensive rebounding. Drummond has led the NBA in rebounding 4 times, and he is en-route to his fifth rebounding title.
What the Raptors are willing to give up to acquire the seasoned big is not sure as of yet, but would be intriguing to keep a lookout for the same.
