Jaxon Smith-Njigba made history for his family when he became the first person from his clan to play in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks made that dream scenario come true for him with their #20 pick. However, he is not the first member f his family to be a professional athlete in a top league in America. That honor falls to his older brother Canaan Smith-Njigba, who plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the MLB.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is all set to join a prolific Seahawks offense that already has star receivers like D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Though, his addition will help the Seahawks alleviate their lack of depth problems, and a third receiver will surely take some pressure off the shoulders of the other receivers.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the 1st WR taken in this years draft. That’s THREE 1st RD WRs in two years. Sheeshpic.twitter.com/lALPS1Iuce

Jaxon Smith-Njigba joins the elite club of siblings who play professionally
Jaxon and Canaan Smith-Njigba are not the first pair of brothers to play in a top-level American league. In fact, the NFL itself has a very famous example in the form of the Kelce Brothers. Travis and Jason Kelce even face each other in the latest Super Bowl, one in which Travis and the Chiefs came out on top. However, the Smith-Njigba brothers will be happy they won’t have to square off against each other.
Jaxon, though, will be more focused on recreating his college stats in Seattle, with Geno Smith. Though he missed most of 2022 owing to a hamstring injury, his 2021 stats speak much about his skills. The 6-foot receiver recorded 95 receptions for 1,606 yards, which must have played a part in his drafting tonight. Will he be able to recreate the magic in Seattle? Hopefully, he does.
