Christmas may have paused a war in the past. However, it seems the festive spirit is not strong enough to keep apart NFL rivalries. Sunday’s game between the Loss Angeles Rams and the Denver Broncos was not a critical game in any aspect. Still, the game ended up hurting one side’s ego. Which showed up after the game ended, when the Broncos’ Randy Gregory marched to pick up a tussle with the Rams’ Oday Aboushi.

Sunday’s game resulted in the biggest defeat this season for the Broncos, having lost by 37 points. This is only the 3rd time in 13 seasons that the Broncos have conceded more than 50 points in a game. Adding insult to injury, Sunday’s loss marks their biggest-ever defeat, the last being a 35-point defeat to the Oakland Raiders in 2010.

The scuffle started after the game, during the player’s handshakes. Broncos’ Gregory kept blowing off in Aboushi’s ear as they walked on the field amidst the players. Then, the altercation turned physical as Gregory smacked Aboushi right on the helmet. Aboushi then responds in kind, but the pair are separated before things could get worse.

The aftermath of the altercation even ended up interrupting Baker Mayfield’s post-game interview for a bit. Ram’s Bobby Wagner almost bumped into Mayfield’s reporter as he dragged Aboushi away from the scene. Commenting on the tussle, Mayfield says, “The offensive line is feeling themselves. I love it.”

Fans not impressed as Randy Gregory rides into another losing fight

Gregory’s actions did not sit well with the NFL community, especially the Broncos fans. Many feel it was an unnecessary ‘salt to the wound’ moment that resulted in nothing good for either side. Many even started calling him a ‘bad investment’, something that is usually reserved for Russell Wilson. Although, he wasn’t cut any slack for his dismal performance either.

With both teams already out of playoff contention, Sunday’s game offered nothing more than pride. And the Broncos really felt the heat when the Rams decided pride is important. Wilson threw two devastating interceptions in the first half, both converted to touchdowns. At the end of the first quarter, the Broncos were down 17-0. And it was only the beginning.

The loss sees the Broncos sit at 4-11, and Wilson’s first season at the Broncos becoming an absolute nightmare. With fans clamoring to have coach Nathaniel Hackett replaced, many wonder if the Broncos have already started picking out potential suitors. Maybe someone who can fix the broken machine that is Wilson? The Broncos have him for a few more years, so they will definitely not bench this expensive mistake.
