"Bench Justin Fields, Cut Trevor Lawrence": NFL Twitter Has A Field Day Picking Between Young Quarterbacks And Justin Herbert

Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence are two of the game’s youngest and brightest stars. However, when it comes to a decision between the two, who would you pick? NFL Twitter went crazy over a start-bench-cut between Justin Herbert, Justin Fields, and Trevor Lawrence. While it seems like Lawrence over Fields would be an easy choice, given their performance and stats, as well as the fact that Lawrence was the first overall pick. However, not all fans agree.

Amid the chaos between Lawrence and Fields, there was a clear choice at start, and it was Justin Herbert. Herbert has been in the league slightly longer, and he clearly is the most polished product. He’s put up the stats, shown he’s a reliable product at quarterback and can be the face of the franchise. Lawrence nearly took it to that level last year, and he may as well end up in the same tier as Herbert by the end of this year, but Fields still has some distance to go.

NFL Fans Pick Between Justin Herbert, Justin Fields, and Trevor Lawrence

Start-bench-cuts always invite some kind of chaos and debate, even where there are sometimes clear choices. Of course, this one wasn’t that obvious, even though it seemed like it.

Fields is clearly behind Herbert and Lawrence when it comes to passing stats. He hasn’t had the production that the other two have had, and it’s still a mystery as to whether he can ascend to elite passing levels.

However, what he lacks in the passing game, he makes up for in the running game. Fields rushed for the second most yards in a season by a quarterback last year, and he set the single-game regular season rushing record for a quarterback last year. So, maybe, in that way, he has the most potential out of the three.

Anyway, here are some of the best reactions to the post.

Fields and Lawrence have big seasons ahead of them

While Herbert has already established himself in the league and has to rely more on his team’s improvement than his own game ascending, Lawrence and Fields are in different boats.

Last year, Lawrence showed that with a competent and stable coaching staff, he can really light the league on fire and play up to the number one overall pick potential. He led the Jaguars to the playoffs, and he even pulled off an upset against Justin Herbert’s Chargers. The sky is the limit for him.

For Fields, he has a do-or-die kind of season ahead of him. It’s no secret that the Bears didn’t do the best to surround Fields with talent in his first two years, but he needs to show he can do more now. The Bears added D.J. Moore, a top 10-15 WR in the league, and drafted RT Darnell Wright to solidify the Bears’ biggest weakness, the offensive line.

It’ll be fun to see what these youngsters will bring to the table next year, and you can bet that everyone will be rooting for all three of these gunners.
