Chase Young

Chase Young is frightening. He has the perfect combination of size and skill that makes him a great pass rusher, something he displayed against the Patriots during preseason.

The Washington Football Team travelled to New England to take on the Patriots in their first NFL preseason game, one that WFT would ultimately end up losing, but Young made sure to remind everyone why he won Defensive Rookie of the Year.

In his first season in the league, Young finished with 7.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and 12 quarterback hits. He also had four forced fumbles and three recoveries, one of which he took back for a touchdown.

Chase Young Destroyed Isaiah Wynn On A Strip Sack Of Cam Newton

The Patriots and WFT both had a lot to unpack from their first preseason game. Both New England and WFT are coming in with questions surrounding their quarterback.

For the Pats, it’s whether Cam Newton can hold off Mac Jones in his bid to take over the startign quarterback job. Meanwhile, WFT is adjusting to a completely new quarterback as they signed Ryan Fitzpatrick this offseason to lead them.

In the end, the Pats would hold on for a 22-13 victory with both Cam and Fitz seeing some playing time. Newton finished 4/7 for 49 yards while Fitzpatrick went 5/8 for 58 yards.

However, the highlight play may have come on the game’s opening drive. Young quickly beat Pats offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn of the edge, getting to Cam Newton with elite speed.

He forced the ball out as both teams scrambled to pick up the loose football. The Pats would recover, but Young showed why he could be one of the best pass rushers one day.

NFL fans, of course, lost it over Young’s incredible play. It was impressive given that Young is only in his second year, and he went up against Wynn, a very formidable force on the Patriots’ offensive line.
