"Chase Young wanted Tom. But he never got to Tom": Skip Bayless Calls Out Washington defensive end After Loss

After the Washington Football Team beat the Eagles to qualify for the playoffs, Chase Young was hyped. Young made this comment:

However, in the biggest game of Young’s career up to this point, he failed to sack Brady even a single time. Brady trounced the Washington defense en-route to a 31-23 victory. Sometimes, you should be careful what you wish for, and Chase Young found out the hard way.

Young only finished with one tackle and two assists as the Buccaneers offensive line made him eat his words.

Tom Brady Sensational In the Playoffs Yet Again

While the Bucs were heavy favorites in this game, many skeptics doubted Brady’s ability to withstand Washington’s elite pass-rush. Brady quickly put all those doubters to bed.

Brady finished with 381 passing yards along with two touchdowns. He was also finding dimes all across the field. Five players finished with more than 35 receiving yards as Brady spread the ball around well.

Looking at this game, you’d be surprised to think he’s 43 years old:

Additionally, Brady picked up his 31st career playoff victory. The next closest: Joe Montana with 16. Brady simply does not age as he also became the oldest quarterback to win a playoff game.

What’s Next For Chase Young and Washington & Tampa Bay?

Washington’s run to the playoffs was largely unprecedented. Firstly, their quarterback situation was a big unknown considering that Dwayne Haskins hadn’t shown much promise in his rookie season. Apart from him, they had Alex Smith, who hadn’t played in two years and Tyler Heinicke, a bigger unknown than Haskins.

Haskins struggled to start the season which resulted in Alex Smith making perhaps the biggest NFL comeback story as he led Washington to a 5-1 record in his starts. Additionally, Heinicke delivered when he needed to.

Even in this playoff game, Heinicke was making big plays as he finished with 306 yards passing:

However, Washington will need a more long term answer at quarterback and that will probably be their biggest concern this offseason. They have defensive studs in Chase Young and Montez Sweat and now just need to focus on building up the offense outside of Terry McLaurin.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers win means they advanced to the divisional round. Their opponent is still yet to be determined as it hinges on the outcome of the Bears-Saints game.

If the Saints win, the Bucs will face off against New Orleans for the third time this season, but if Chicago wins, the Bucs will play Los Angeles.
