Christian McCaffrey certainly did not expect to find himself in the situation he is in right now when the season began. When the season started, McCaffrey was the only offensive star player on the Panthers and the team was heading towards a top 10 draft pick.
Now, McCaffrey is one of the many weapons on the star studded 49ers team led by Kyle Shanahan and rookie quarterback Brock Purdy. McCaffrey has seamlessly fit into the 49ers offense, finding his new role and excelling in it.

Christian McCaffrey net worth: How much has the star RB earned?
McCaffrey currently has about $53 million in career earnings from solely his NFL contracts. He is in the 2nd year of a 4 year contract extension worth $64 million.
Of the $64 million, $38 million was guaranteed money. However, the trade to San Francisco from the Panthers changed some of the logistics.
Even though McCaffrey plays for the 49ers, the Panthers agreed to take upon a large chunk of McCaffrey’s contract, including the signing bonus. Due to this, the 49ers were able to attain the services of McCaffrey for just his base salary.
George Kittle on Christian McCaffrey getting snubbed from awards:
“I hope he stays pissed off. Because he’s been pissed off the last four weeks and all he’s done is dominate.”

In 2026, CMC will be a free agent but Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, the GM for the 49ers, will be trying to lock him further when the time comes. For the moment, they will try to restructure his contract in the coming offseason to keep the 49ers competitive.
