Stephen A. Smith’s disdain for the Dallas Cowboys is not a new piece of information. Anyone who even remotely follows the league will know for sure that Smith takes every opportunity to slam ‘America’s team’. Which is what he does on Friday’s episode of ‘First Take’. Though this time, he’s singling out one player to take the heat for his team: Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott.

On the show, Smith says, “I have been taught that the San Francisco 49ers are on a significantly higher level than this version of the Tampa Bay Buccaneer. The challenge that Dak Prescott faced Monday night is nothing compared to what he’s going to face this weekend… If he fails, it will remind us that there are levels to this and Dak Prescott just ain’t on it as of yet.”
The Cowboys’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers showcased some brilliant play by their offense, led by Prescott. It was probably the best game of the season for him. However, that performance came against a struggling Bucs team that perhaps did not even deserve to be in the playoffs. Which wipes off any credibility the Cowboys’ performance on the night had.
Dak Prescott must repeat last week’s performance to triumph against the 49ers
The key to beating the 49ers tomorrow is Dak Prescott. It is as simple as that. Both teams field excellent defensive players and will be instrumental in containing their opponent’s offenses. For the 49ers, however, their rookie QB Brock Purdy has been making some mistakes of late. If that happens this time around, the Cowboys’ defense will surely make him pay dearly.
If Prescott is able to recreate the same kind of energy and prowess he showed against the Buccaneers, then the Cowboys will definitely win. However, fans should not be expecting this to be a high-scoring game. Rather, anticipate a tough grind, a race against the clock to just get a few points on the board while they can. It will take a miraculous failure from one team for the other to take a comfortable lead in the game.
With only a few hours left to kick off, who will come out victorious in this game? Will the Cowboys avenge their loss from last year’s wild-card game? Or will the 49ers just push the Cowboys off their high horses?
