Deion Sanders is one of those rare individuals who crave greatness in a variety of fields, and also have the courage to achieve what they aspire for. The two-time Super Bowl champion not only excelled in the NFL, but also made a name for himself in MLB, before eventually establishing himself as one of the most prominent college football coaches in the market. However, back in the day, passionate Sanders probably went one step too far during an altercation with a 49ers teammate.

Deion is known for not holding back when it comes to expressing exactly what he is thinking. In fact, in the last few weeks, he has consistently responded to the trolls who have been targeting him for accepting the head coach position at Colorado, after leaving Jackson State. While many like Sanders for being brutally honest and ‘in your face’ type of an individual, some have also criticized him for taking evasive action when things don’t go his way.
Deion Sanders once took a swing at his teammate who wasn’t doing his job properly
Sanders, who is itching to show what he can do at Colorado, went on renowned analyst Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast last year in December, where he admitted losing his temper at a fellow teammate when he was with the 49ers back in 1994. Without naming anyone, Deion had stated:
“I didn’t even want to look like you had me. I remember I swung on one of my teammates because of that in San Francisco. We were playing against the Saints, and we were playing 2-man. First play, guy got out there. Ain’t no safety over the top. So, on film, what does it look like?” Sanders asked Sharpe who quickly responded by saying, “It looks like you got beat.”
Sanders then claimed that he asked his mate to do his job who had coldly responded by saying, “don’t worry about me.” Deion added that the same thing transpired in the next play and again his teammate’s response was, “dude, I’ll be there. Don’t worry about me.”

“Coach, you see me? I’m two yards behind the man. Ain’t nobody over the top. Looks like this guy’s beating me on the play. I don’t even want it to look like he beat me on film,” Deion admitted saying after which, again his teammate’s response was, “Don’t worry about me. I got mine.”
The third ‘don’t worry’ really ticked Sanders off who then took a swing at his teammate. Sanders also told Shannon that the player threatened to sue him for his action. However, one must note that while narrating the whole incident, both Sanders and Sharpe couldn’t stop laughing which suggests that the ‘swing’ didn’t really cost Coach Prime much.
Deion Sanders was awarded $2.2 Million in defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife
Almost a decade back, Coach Prime had landed in a major controversy, when his ex-wife Pilar had stated in interviews that she was a victim of domestic violence. However, Deion decided to file a defamation suit against his former partner. As it turns out, Deion not only won the case, but also ended up winning $2.2 Million in damages.
As reported by TMZ, it was a huge legal victory for Sanders, who went through a very ugly breakup with Pilar. Even cops had to intervene at one stage when things went awry between the two. In the end, things panned out nicely for Deion, who is now aiming for the stars in Colorado.
