The New Orleans Saints have decided to start Taysom Hill over Jameis Winston. However, is Hill the right choice?

Some believe that there may be financial motives involved:
Jameis has 1.8 million in playing time incentives in his contract. For a team that is up against a shrinking cap, the decision to start Taysom Hill could be a financial one.

However, this is clearly not the case as someone pointed out:
He can make at most $110,000 this week, and that’s if the team improves upon its total passing or rushing yards.
They like Taysom enough to pay him $21 million to wait a year. I promise they aren’t making a decision over $110,000. https://t.co/uh0Cf1o266

So is Taysom Hill really the right choice?

Taysom Hill vs. Jameis Winston
The news to start Taysom Hill over Jameis Winston has to come as a shocker. Yes, Taysom Hill has proven to be effective when the Saints bring him in, but those are only for a few plays at a time. Those design runs or trick passes are meant to energize the team and throw defenses off their game.
However, can he sustain that for a whole game? He doesn’t have nearly the same experience that Jameis Winston does for sure. For his career, Hill has thrown for 10/18 passes for 205 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
Meanwhile, those might be the stats for a single game for Winston. Just last year, Winston passed for over 5,000 yards and 33 touchdowns (yes he also threw for 30 interceptions). He also underwent Lasik surgery this offseason to improve his eyesight.
However, it’s perhaps Hill’s versatility that led to the decision to start him this week. He’s definitely more athletic, and give the Saints offense different looks they can’t use with Winston.
Of course, the jokes will fly about him starting,

but it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out in week 11 against the Falcons.
