“Michael Vick is still faster than me”: Patrick Mahomes reacts to former NFL Quarterback running a 4.72 40-yard dash at 42 years old

Michael Vick was a pioneer for mobile QB’s as he lit up the league in the early 2000s. Despite being out of the league for 6 years and turning 40, he still ran a blistering 4.72 40. And Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was in awe of his speed.

Vick revolutionized the league during his time in Atlanta. He set the record for most rushing yards by a QB in a season and was the only QB to rush for 1000+ yards until Ravens QB Lamar Jackson broke his record in 2019. But even almost 15 years after setting the record, Vick still turned heads with his speed.

Over the weekend, Michael Vick decided to lace up his shoes to run to the 40-yard dash for NFL Network host Rich Eisen’s “Run Rich Run” campaign. Vick clocked in with a ridiculous 4.72, which is almost unbelievable considering his age and how long it’s been since he suited up in the NFL. Although he might not rival the league’s current wide receivers and running backs, the former Falcons quarterback could still win a 40-yard sprint against a solid portion of the population.

1 member of that population would be Chiefs Qb Patrick Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes joked about Michael Vick still being faster than him

At the 2017 NFL Scouting Cobine, Patrick Mahomes ran a 4.80 in the 40-yard-dash, which is why he laughed after seeing Vicks ridiculous time. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is also only 25, a full 15 years younger than Vick, which further puts into perspective how incredible the 4.72 time is.

The jokes continued even after that. When Kansas City Chiefs speedster Mecole Hardman found out that Mahomes ran a 4.80 40, Mahomes revealed that his speed was because he runs scared.

Michael Vick took to twitter and said that he gave it his all. Regardless, he would train harder to break his time next year. It will be sick if he runs even faster next year.
