Jalen Hurts is a real Chad when it comes to fitness. He was an absolute monster at Oklahoma during his college days and outclassed everyone with his weightlifting ability. At 16, the youngster stunned everyone, posting 450 pounds on the squat machine, something that remains a dream for many athletes. Even his arch-rival Patrick Mahomes, who handed him a crushing defeat at Super Bowl LVII, couldn’t lift that much during that period. In fact, the Eagles quarterback went on to achieve another milestone by deadlifting 620 lbs, around 70-100 pounds more than what his Super Bowl counterpart can currently muster.

The 24-year-old has great genetics, aiding his weight room skills. He is actually a powerlifter possessing some great muscle strength. Like other quarterbacks who possess great mobility, Hurts has everything that is needed in a successful QB along with something extra.
Jalen Hurts outnumbers Patrick Mahomes in the weight room
Both, Mahomes and Hurts, are young, energetic, and have similar skill sets. But when it comes to the weight room, the Houston Native has an upper hand over Patrick. He deadlifts 600-620 lbs, while Mahomes reportedly has reached the mark of 500-550 lbs, at max.
Jalen follows a nutritional diet that is similar to Patrick Mahomes, having five meals a day. But the only difference is the physical routine they practice on a day-to-day basis. While Hurts crushes by lifting weights, Mahomes’ trainer Bobby Stroupe emphasizes improving power generation from all angles.
Mahomes prioritizes medicine ball work by tossing it from awkward angles. This increases his cannon arm strength, and the results of this drill were quite visible during this year’s Super Bowl game when the Kansas City quarterback mesmerized everyone with his insane scrambling ability.
Jalen Hurts’ habit of lifting heavy weights started accidentally
Jalen always fancied following the footsteps of his brother who was engaged in powerlifting. The Eagles QB didn’t realize his actual stamina until he unknowingly outshined everyone around by lifting heavy weights with utter ease in his early days. “It happened accidentally to be honest.” Hurts said in an interaction with the Kelce brothers.
“Yeah, like just finding out that I was strong like the My dad made my brother power lift. When I say I learned everything from my brother and I watched him, he went through the coach’s kids first. So my dad made me power lift because my brother did. Got to one of those meets like 405 on the bar. So I was like, I know I can do 405.” he added.
It will be interesting to see how much Jalen progresses in the coming years.
