Najee Harris

Najee Harris is one of the top draft prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft. Harris decided not to work out during Alabama’s Pro Day, but he still managed to show up to support his teammates.

Harris had a phenomenal season at Alabama in his senior year, and now it appears it’s NFL onwards for the top rated scout.

How Well Did Najee Harris Play in His Tenure At Alabama?

Harris saw growth in every year at his university. Never feeling satisfied with the body of work he was producing, Harris always sought to improve year in and year out.

In his freshman year, Harris ran for only 370 yards and three touchdowns. The following year, Harris would up those totals to 783 yards and four touchdowns, but he still wasn’t done improve.

Entering his junior year, Harris knew he had to turn it up if he ever wanted to see his NFL dreams come true. That culminated in a 1,224 rushing yard season with 13 touchdowns. He also showed his versatility as a pass catcher, a skill that all NFL running backs must be great at now, as he finished with 304 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

Once again, Harris was simply not satisfied. Last summer, he worked with former running backs Brad Lester and Derrick Blaylock to increase his skillset. The work paid off as he had his best season ever.

He ran for 1,466 yards and a whopping 26 touchdowns. He also tacked on 425 receiving yards and four more scores through the air. His efforts culminated in him winning the Doak Walker Award, given to the top running back in College Football.

That season has made him one of the higher rated drafted prospects in the upcoming NFL draft, and now it’s just a matter of seeing which team picks him up. Whoever does will be getting a certified monster.

Who Should Draft Najee Harris?

While taking a running back early is a big risk, there are teams out there who could certainly do with Harris’ services. For example, the Dolphins, who have two first round picks, could pick the college star up.

Their starting backfield is unclear right now and Harris could emerge as a true workhorse. The New York Jets are another team. They just let go of Leveon Bell last year and have no true number one running back.

Pairing him up with Sam Darnold could give the young QB another weapon. Additionally, some contending teams could use him as well. If Harris is still available Tampa Bay could look to pick him up, especially if Leonard Fournette walks.

The Alabama product will have no shortage of suitors. It’s just a matter of seeing which team fits the best for him now.
