Odell Beckham Jr.’s arrival in Baltimore has made massive waves in the NFL community. Not to forget, his $15 million single-year contract. Which many are saying is an attempt to bring Lamar Jackson back to the negotiating table. However, there are a few who believe OBJ is no longer worth $15 million, and that the contract is wasted on him. One such critic is NFL analyst Skip Bayless.

OBJ’s signing came as a surprise for many, mainly because of the Ravens’ tussle with Jackson. Given that the Ravens had failed to negotiate a contract extension with Jackson after almost 3 years of negotiating. Even more so, no one expected them to pay OBJ $15 million in a single year. Bayless thinks the Ravens should start praying OBJ is worth it.
Skip Bayless does not think Odell Beckham Jr. is worth $15 million
Speaking on the ‘Undisputed’ podcast, Bayless talks about how the Ravens could have made a mistake signing OBJ to such an expensive contract. He says, “Odell just wanted the money… He finessed his way into the perfect situation to get paid, because the Ravens actually needed to overpay him to show the world ‘we went out and paid top dollar for a free agent.'”
Bayless feels that the only reason the Ravens paid OBJ $15 million, is because they needed to overturn the ‘miser’ narrative running around about them. They needed to show that they are willing to pay money to a player who they think is capable of giving returns. However, that only begs the question, do they think Lamar Jackson is not worth $200 million?
Lamar Jackson could potentially ease up in contract negotiations
OBJ’s arrival may just help ease the pressure on the Ravens, with regard to Lamar Jackson‘s contract negotiations. Jackson and OBJ have apparently been in constant touch with each other. Apparently, they even planned to get a ring too. With OBJ’s arrival in Baltimore, Jackson could be persuaded to accept a deal more to the Ravens’ liking. In exchange for a shot at the Super Bowl this year.
However, this could also end up backfiring right in the Ravens’ face. Jackson could very well double down on his demands, and the Ravens may not be left with a choice. After all, what use is a top-end receiver, if there is no one to throw at him? How will OBJ’s signing affect the Lamar Jackson Contract saga?
