Do Not Insult ‘Acting’ With My Commercials: Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning, the legendary quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts not only made a special space for himself in the hearts of football fans but also the citizens of Indianapolis. The star QB who won two Super Bowl rings for Indianapolis, lives in Denver but can’t hide his love for the Colts. Hence, to ensure the welfare of the city, the star QB established the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in 2003. The hospital strives to give extraordinary care to its patients. Hence, in order to give a once-in-a-lifetime experience to some children and honor a special patient, the hospital arranged a massive event.

In the end, sixteen patients showed their strength as they pulled a 24-ton plane 15 feet. Children who were getting treated at the hospital or got treated at some point in their lives took part in the charitable event.

What was the plane-pulling charitable event about?

It was the 11th annual Republic Airways plane pull. The event took place in order to honor Tyler Frenzel of Carmel, Indiana, an Ascension St. Vincent. The 9-year-old lost the battle with leukemia and unfortunately passed away in 2004. Since then, the Frenzel family has continued to honor the life of Tyler by donating to pediatric patients in Indiana through the Plane Pull.

One of the lucky kids, Tony Dingle, 10, who took part in the fun event said, “Oh it was amazing. I had a very very fun time pulling it, especially because I think it weighs 5 tons or more. It felt so cool. Especially one kid was in a wheelchair and seeing him in action was the most magnificent thing I’ve seen in my life.”

It was announced that former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning would serve as chair for a major fundraising campaign called ‘Care for Tomorrow.’ It will fund the Women’s and Children’s Tower. Additionally, the funds from Republic Airways Plane Pull will also go to Women and Children’s Tower, an expansion of maternal, infant, and pediatric care in Indiana. The Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital received a $100,000 donation from the Republic Airways Plane Pull last year, according to the hospital.

Peyton Manning surprises a lucky patient with a special phone call

The philanthropist work of the Broncos QB go way beyond just providing financial aid. Recently, Manning gave a surprising call to one of his biggest fan. Tammy Haga suffered from metastatic bone cancer and was a huge admirer of Manning. “She had everything from bobbleheads to bracelets, jerseys to cereal boxes. She even had a printed biography of Manning that she had read several times,” her medical social worker revealed.

Her lifelong wish was to speak to the five-time MVP winner and get his autograph, but it never worked out. However, it was through the Dream Foundation that she could speak with her hero. Dream Foundation’s goal is to provide end-of-life Dreams that help terminally ill adults and their families provide hope, solace, and resolution.

“Words cannot describe the happiness that we felt while we watched Tammy speak with Peyton Manning,” said Haga’s cousin, Elaine Long. “You could see the overwhelming joy that it brought Tammy. We were beyond ecstatic to witness this special moment,” Long added.
