Where will Derek Carr land? Top 3 trade destinations for Raiders QB

The Las Vegas Raiders cutting Derek Carr from their team after this season is sending waves throughout the NFL community. One who played an instrumental part in bringing college mate Davante Adams to the team, the news was sudden and shocking. However, new information about tensions between team officials and him are coming to light, and the news is not good for Carr’s image.

Reportedly, Carr did not take well to criticism about his performance in a game. Especially if it came from head coach Josh McDaniels. McDaniels, who came from the New England Patriots to coach the Raiders, brought the Patriots’ philosophy with him. Which included publicly criticizing players, coaches, and even the water carriers.

Carr did not like this because he felt McDaniels was saying “Derek Carr Sucks”. For Carr, this seemed dishonest on McDaniel’s part, because before McDaniels joined the Raiders, he had called up Carr. In their conversation, it was clearly understood that McDaniels had faith in Carr’s abilities. Which, for Carr, seemed not the case when he was scolded in front of his team.

According to a former employee with the Raiders, Carr did not deal very well with open criticism. They say, “I like Derek. I think he is a nice guy. Don’t get me wrong, but he can be childish and immature, and if somebody says something bad about him, he sulks. Like a little boy who takes his ball and goes into the corner.”

Derek Carr played a vital role in stabilizing a dysfunctional Raiders

While his reception of criticism may not the most ideal way, he was still a beloved member of the team. Carr often went out of his way to help the team and his teammates through times of crisis. However, the Raiders did not seem to care at all. One teammate notes, “I felt bad for Derek. He gave and gave, and right or wrong it appeared that they (Raiders) just expected him to cash his paycheck and shut up.”

Carr even reportedly took a cut in his pay during extension negotiations, attempting to bring his close friend Khalil Mack back with the team. The Raiders went on to ship Mack out of town, crushing Carr. He was also deeply troubled when former coach Jon Gruden was forced to resign after scathing emails from him were leaked. Carr, who loved and trusted Gruden, felt like he had lost a supporter in the team.

Throughout his career, he went above and beyond to help his team, and carry them on his back. Now, when that same team is cutting him off their roster, one can be sure other teams are taking note. There are quite a few teams who need a QB, and Derek Carr is probably the best face to have as a franchise QB. A supportive captain who takes care of his team is the real deal for a team. If they don’t make him cry, that is.
