“We can complement each other”: DeVonta Smith believes he and WR Jalen Reagor can work well together.

The Eagles traded up to draft Alabama WR DeVonta Smith with the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. So now the Philly Eagles will boast a roster with 2 first-round wideouts in back to back drafts as they drafted Jalen Reagor in the 2020 NFL draft. And DeVonta Smith is excited about the prospect.

It may only have been a year, but the Philly Eagles made a mistake by drafting Jalen Reagor with the 21st overall pick last year, especially since Justin Jefferson was still on the board and he went on to break the rookie receiving yards record. And now, Reagor will hope to calm the criticism while playing second fiddle to Heisman winner DeVonta Smith.

While Jalen Reagor missed several games due to injury as a rookie, his overall production was not high. The 21st overall pick in 2020, Reagor caught 31 passes for 396 yards with one touchdown in 11 games. His highest yardage output came in Week One when he caught one pass for 55 yards.

DeVonta Smith thinks Jalen Reagor and himself will work well together.

DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor will be the top targets for Jalen Hurts. And Smith is excited about the prospect of forming the WR duo.

“He’s very explosive. He’s very fast. I mean, overall he’s a great receiver,” Smith said. “We can complement each other, just help each other out with things in our game. So there may be something I’m doing that he’s not doing, or something that he’s doing that I’m not doing. And we can just help each other out in every way.”

DeVonta Smith will hope to transition his historic collegiate production in the Pros. The Alabama alum became only the 2nd WR ever to win the Heisman trophy, as he led the Crimson Tide to an undefeated season and a National Championship.

If Smith and Reagor can elevate their play, that would be a big benefit to quarterback Jalen Hurts, who’s likely entering his first year as an opening-day starter.
