With new evidence proving r*pe accusations against Matt Araiza false, fans remember Brian Banks' ordeal who wasn't as lucky as the Punt God

Punt God Matt Araiza found himself in hot water a while ago when he was accused of s*xual misconduct. In fact, he was even released by the Buffalo Bills in August, 2022, because of the allegations made against him. But as per the latest evidence released in the public domain, the 22-year-old wasn’t even present at the location where the alleged assault had taken place.

The San Diego star was accused of gang r*pe along with a few others present at a party that was held in 2021. Last December, the prosecutors didn’t press charges against him as there was no clear evidence to hold him behind bars. It appears he can now enter the NFL arena without any fear, something that wasn’t possible for former NFL star Brian Banks, who had to spend five years in prison for a crime he never committed.

Can Matt Araiza finally kick-start his career?

When the Punt God was drafted in the NFL, he had high hopes of making an impact in his rookie season. But all those aspirations were left unfulfilled after a woman came forward, accusing him of s*xual misconduct along with a few other men. However, as reported by louderwithcrowder.com, after an investigation which went on for 4 months, Deputy District Attorney Trisha Amador revealed that Araiza wasn’t even at the party during the time the alleged assault took place.

“Prosecutors told the girl that video recordings of the incident in the bedroom made it impossible to determine, let alone prosecute anyone, on whether there was a gang r*pe at all that night, rather than consensual s*x with the other men,” as per the transcripts of the conversation between the accuser and the prosecutors.

“All I know is that at that point, suspect Araiza is gone from the party.” Attorney Amador claimed. All these revelations will definitely have a great impact on Matt’s chances of making a comeback in the NFL.

Brian Banks was imprisoned for a crime he never committed

Brian Banks, a former linebacker, also underwent a similar situation in 2002, but he wasn’t as lucky as Matt. Banks was 16 at that time and was accused of kidnapping and r*ping his high school friend, Wanetta Gibson. They were longtime friends, but after an altercation, they had parted ways.

Gibson, who was angry at that moment, blamed the football star for forcibly kissing, and accused him of s*xual misconduct. Instead of not pleading guilty, Banks accepted five years in prison, because he would have been jailed for 41-year to life, in case the jury had declared him guilty.

After spending years in prison, Brian was eventually exonerated of all the charges when the accuser was recorded through a secret camera, admitting that the accusations she made against Brian were completely false. This whole fiasco almost ended Brian’s NFL aspirations. Although he was recruited by the Atlanta Falcons in 2013, he was released a couple of months later.

How Brian’s career would have shaped if he wasn’t slapped with a fake case is all what people have left to think about.
