Nicolas Tagliafico to Arsenal: The Gunners have reportedly taken their first steps in the transfer market, as they eye defender Nicolas Tagliafico.

Arsenal began their campaign with two consecutive losses to Manchester City and Chelsea, but made a tremendous comeback in the season. Since the defeat to the Blues at Stamford Bridge, Arsenal have been unbeaten across all competitions so far.

Unai Emery’s side have won 11 out of 12 games since their loss at Chelsea, and will aim to maintain their impressive run when they host the high-flying Liverpool on Saturday this week.

Liverpool are yet to concede a defeat in the league this season, and are level on points with leaders Manchester City.

However, Arsenal’s defence has been a cause of worry for Unai Emery this season. Emery’s side has conceded 13 goals so far, which is the highest among the top-5. And so, Arsenal have reportedly taken their first step in the transfer market.

Nicolas Tagliafico to Arsenal:

Arsenal have reportedly made a bid for Argentine defender Nicolas Tagliafico, who currently plays at Ajax Amsterdam.

Tagliafico has started in eight of Ajax’s 10 games in this season so far, as the side chases PSV Eindhoven, who are 5 points ahead at the top of the table.

Arsenal are reportedly favourites to sign the player, according to English media outlet ‘The Sun.’ The Gunners face competition from Newcastle United, but it is understood that Arsenal can easily outbid the relegation-threatened Premier League side, who are rather infamous for their lack of spending.

Unai Emery has used Granit Xhaka at the left-back position, which has become a vulnerable zone for Arsenal in the last few weeks. Xhaka conceded the second goal against Crystal Palace last week, which ended their winning run.

Arsenal will face Liverpool this week and Jurgen Klopp’s side will look to exploit Arsenal on the left.

What next?

While there has been no confirmation from either of the party about a possible interest, it is no secret that Arsenal’s defence has been shaky this season. The Gunners have come from a goal down in all of their wins this season.

It won’t be a surprise if Arsenal signs Tagliafico in the January transfer window. The Gunners signed Sokratis and Bernd Leno in the summer, and will look to further strengthen their defence.
