‘No one can speed Luka Doncic up’: Warriors’ Draymond Green explains what it feels like to guard Luka Doncic after insane 42 point performance vs Clippers
Golden State Warriors DPOY Draymond Green reveals what it is like playing against the Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the league. Despite being only 22-years-young, Doncic has torched the league ever since he joined the association as a rookie. There is no doubt that Luka is the face of his franchise. No one can also deny that the Slovenian superstar will soon become one of the future faces of the league.
In only his third year of the league, the Dallas Mavericks star has achieved several accolades and shattered many records. In this 2020-2021 season too, Luka and his Mavericks had a great campaign. Finishing with an impressive 42-30 record, Dallas clinched the 5th seed of the Western Conference successfully avoiding the newly-introduced play-in tournament.
In only his 2nd playoffs series ever, the 6-foot-7 point forward has taken his game to a whole new level. Aiming to stage an upset against Kawhi Leonard and his Clippers team, Luka has been putting up a staggering 31 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in the series.
“Luka Doncic is always in total control of the game”: Draymond Green
Los Angeles Clippers aren’t the only team who have a hard time guarding the two-time All-Star. Doncic’s unique gameplay, enables him to torch any team, dropping an insane amount of points on any team. Even the toughest of tough defenders have a pretty hard time guarding the wrath of Luka.
Even DPOY candidate, Draymond Green has highly spoken off Luka and at his own comfortable pace, he plays the game with. After dropping 42 points, 14 assists, and 8 rebounds in a Game 5 win against LAC, Draymond revealed what it was like to face Doncic. On his appearance on “NBA on TNT” show, Green revealed:
“You’re facing a guy who is in total control at a game. I think the most incredible thing about Luka is, the pace at which he plays, you cannot speed him up. He’s gonna get the shot that he wants. He’s gonna get all his guys involved and that’s the challenge. So he’s getting switched and the Clippers are falling to these switches and he’s just getting to his spot. That’s been the story of this series.”

Clearly, Luka has been having himself one solid of a playoffs series. With a few of his performances in this playoffs, he joins the elite company of legends like Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. However, Luka Doncic, being the competitor he is, won’t be satisfied till he clinches the series.
