On This Day: CSK's Brendon McCullum scored second IPL century vs SRH in IPL 2015

Brendon McCullum scored second IPL century: The former Super Kings’ opening batsman had played a match-winning innings at their home ground.

On this day, former Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Brendon McCullum had scored his second Indian Premier League century during the fourth match of IPL 2015 against SunRisers Hyderabad in Chennai.

After CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat, McCullum dominated in a 75-run opening stand alongside Dwayne Smith (27). Playing an anchor role, McCullum batted throughout the innings to make sure that his team banks on the solid start.

On the third delivery of the 12th over, McCullum hit Hyderabad pacer Ishant Sharma for a six to complete yet another T20 half-century. Having hit another six off Ishant Sharma, McCullum smashed two sixes off Karn Sharma in the next over to up the ante.

Chennai received a setback in the next over as vice-captain Suresh Raina (12) was found short of his crease by Hyderabad spearhead Trent Boult.

However, a quickfire 63-run partnership between McCullum and Dhoni (53) powered Super Kings to a formidable 209/4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. McCullum, who was dropped by SRH batsman Kane Williamson in the 16th over, played the second fiddle in the partnership.

Batting on 89* with an over to go, McCullum hit a four and a six before running a single off Boult on the last three deliveries of the innings to complete his sixth T20 century; also his penultimate century in the format.

Coming on the back of a 1-run victory in their season opener, Super Kings registered their second consecutive victory as their bowlers restricted the visitors to 164/6 in 20 overs.
