Paul Pogba injury news: Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a concern for Jose Mourinho ahead of the game against City.
Manchester United have been impressive in the last few weeks, as the club secured three consecutive wins across all competitions. The side defeated Juventus in Turin earlier this week, which has lifted the spirits among the Old Trafford faithful.
Mourinho’s men now visit Etihad Stadium to take on their city rivals Manchester City in the first derby of the season.
Pep Guardiola’s side is currently at the top of the table, and are yet unbeaten in the league. Manchester United, on the other hand, was the last team to defeat City at their home ground.
Jose Mourinho’s side defeated Manchester City 3-2, with Pogba scoring a brace last season at the Etihad Stadium. United would reduce the points-gap to 6 if they win against City on Sunday.
However, Jose Mourinho could face a huge setback as United prepares for the heavyweight clash.
Paul Pogba injury news:
ESPN’s Rob Dawson has reported that Paul Pogba didn’t take part in the penultimate session before the game yesterday, over a fitness issue. The 25-year old midfielder instead practiced indoors.
Paul Pogba didn’t train with main group today. Remains to be seen if fit for Sunday. Lukaku did. If suffers no reaction and OK tomorrow, he will be available.

Pogba has been key to Manchester United’s inspiring performances over the past few weeks. The French midfielder also scored two goals against Man City in their last clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Pogba, however, will have a chance to prove his fitness in the training session on Saturday.
Earlier, Mourinho indicated that Romelu Lukaku has regained fitness, and the Belgian striker trained with the first-team before the game. It would be interesting to see, however, whether the manager would reinstate him in the starting XI.
Wenger on Pogba: “It’s the destiny of the great players to be questioned it’s that talent to respond and I think he has the mental strength to do it.”
This is just beautiful from Wenger

Alexis Sanchez has also recovered after suffering a dead leg against Juventus.
Pogba: “I didn’t celebrate when we went 2-1 up, it felt too strange. I saw so many people that I know well. We played against a great team and we really had to win tonight. A return to Juventus? Who knows? I’m with United now.” #mulive [football italia]

What next?
The players will head out for national duties as the clash against City would be followed by the international break.
Manchester United are currently 7th at the moment and a victory against City would be significant for them at this stage of the season. Earlier, Mourinho’s side defeated Bournemouth, who are still above them on goal difference.
